3rd Week of June: Girl's Camp

Monday June 15th

Girls Camp

 The 4th years left a day early because they had to go hiking for 2 days for certification.  I went with them to help drive the girls to their campsite.

After dropping off their gear at their camp site, they finally got to the place where they were starting their hike.  I think they were hiking 7-10 miles per day.

Tuesday June 16th

 The rest of the YW get to go to camp.  This was Lydia's first year and she was pretty nervous about going.  Her buddies--Audrey, Lydia, Elise and Taylor.  Her other friend Kali, didn't get to go to camp.  

 One last picture before I went home.  

 The leaders sent me some pictures of Maggie out on her hike.  They all did a great job--Maggie had some blisters and a sore back, but otherwise did great.  This is Netta (Emma's mom, Emma and Maggie)

 I took the other 3 kids to the library to see B.J. the Clown.  I used to take Maggie and Lydia to see him when they were little, but I don't think I've ever taken the younger 3.  They really enjoyed it and laughed and laughed.  He's a pretty good clown.  

 Later that night, Bella was reading us books.  

 As I was sitting there listening, I noticed all the toys in Noah's socks.  Strange child.  

 Wednesday June 17th

 This is a picture of most of the YW and the leaders from our ward.  There are some missing.  I guess they took it after the 4th years got back and Maggie said that she went straight to the showers.

Thursday June 18th

 The theme of camp was "Oh the places you'll go when you embark in the service of God."  All of the cabins were named after a Dr. Seuss book.  Since I was in the YW presidency at the time, I went up with our YW president, my good friend Tonya.  The bishopric were also going up that night.  We got there around 10 or 11 I think and hung out with the girls.  It was so fun to see Maggie and Lydia again!!  Right before I got there, I guess Lydia had gotten stung twice by a bee and was pretty sad.  I hadn't seen her yet, but everyone kept telling me about it.  She was fine though, but I think she was glad to see me.

 They took cabin pictures and then everyone went to lunch.

 I love this picture because it shows Lydia and how she doesn't like to be silly with people.  (unless it's her family of course.)

 They had free time, so they went canoeing for a little bit.  

The lake was filled with these nasty little salamander things.  Most of the girls loved them and tried to catch them.  

 Then Lydia and her friends went.  

 Then we went down to zumba

 and Lydia got pictures of me trying to dance.

 Then I went to see Maggie's and Lydia's cabins.  I didn't get any pictures, but they were your typical cabins.  I hung out with Lydia a little bit and helped her wash her hair.  Then we had to hurry and leave because all the YW had to be up at the main part of camp for flag ceremony I think.  

 Then they had all these games lined up where wards competed against other wards.  In this one they had to pass a soaking wet sponge under their legs and then pass over their shoulder.  

 Then they played dodge ball with nylons filled with some kind of powder--flour maybe? This is Lydia chasing her friend Taylor and trying to throw one at her.

 Lydia chose to sit in my chair instead.  

 Then they were having a race in the canoes with the bishops and bishopric members.  Since neither of our bishopric counselors could come (since their wives were both up at camp), Bishop asked their daughters to come and race with him.

 Cute picture of Lydia on the docks.  After this, we ate dinner (pulled pork sandwiches, spinach salad and green beans--really yummy!) as a ward and the Bishop spoke for a little bit.  Then they were going to have their campfire songs and whatever else they do.  But, it was already getting late and we had an hour and a half drive in front of us, so we left after that.

And Maggie getting her "new name" and sweatshirt.  Apparently, all the 4th year girls get a new name that exemplifies who they are.  I can't even remember her name--something really strange.  Anyways, I think they did this the night I was there, I just didn't stay long enough.  

That's all the pictures I have for the week, but on Friday the 19th, we took the kids to see "Inside Out" and it was good, but sad.  I think we all cried--even Noah.  

On Saturday the 20th, we ran errands, bought some fresh strawberries (I waited too long to go and pick any--they were almost out of season) and then we picked Maggie and Lydia up from the stake center.  We watched "Napolean Dynamite" that night.  Such a boring movie when you watch it, but it has some great lines to quote.  Maggie likes to quote lines from it.
