Saturday July 2nd
Garrett decided to take the kids to the beach and spend the day there. He invited Meggin and Jake and their girls to go too. I was still sick with a fever, so I opted to stay home and rest. Plus I had to teach sharing time in primary on Sunday so I needed to work on my lesson.
They went to one of our favorite beaches, Oswald West. It's this beautiful crescent shaped beach with mountains and trees all around.
They packed a picnic lunch and then played in the sand and water.
I love that Maggie will take pictures with everyone.
The McKibben/Passey clan
Sunday July 3rd
After church we go out to Jim and Georgia's for dinner and to hang out with family.
Amelia and Lydia get a long really well. They are both pretty feisty.
Swimming in the hot tub.
That night, we left the 3 younger kids at grandma's house because they were going to sleep in the barn with their cousins. Aunt Meggin generously volunteered to sleep out there with them. I think they had fun...probably didn't get very much sleep.
Monday July 4th
Once again we registered to participate in the 4th of July CAT walk. Meggin decided to do it with us, so Uncle Jake bought all the kids later to watch the parade.
Before the race started...downtown Hillsboro

Packing up to head home
We BBQ'd here and then the kids played for awhile before the Passey's had to leave to get home.
We set off a few fireworks of our own...Lydia's so interested in them and Bella doesn't like the loud screeching ones which is why she's in the garage.
We heard some people talk about a cool place to watch fireworks that we had never heard about before--in Forest Grove at Tom McCall school, so we thought we'd try it out. It was pretty chilly that night...good thing we had extra blankets in the car.
Waiting till it gets dark...
Bella found her friend Katie
and Maggie found her friend Emma. (Emma and Katie are sisters)
We were so glad we went because the fireworks were awesome and long and they had this really fun music playing to go along with the fireworks. My favorite was when they played "America" by Neil Diamond. They had so many fun, patriotic songs.
Tuesday July 5th
I'm including this day in this post just because Garrett took the day off, so we still considered it part of the weekend. His project for the day was redoing the play structure area. Our trampoline was really old and broken, so we took it down and got rid of that. Garrett decided while that was gone to get rid of the weeds underneath and then put down bark chips to go under the new trampoline and the play structure.
And he put all of us to work...
That night we got tickets to the Hops game (baseball) and took Noah, Maggie and Grandpa Jim with us.
It was a beautiful night for some baseball!
